120,000 visitors at Cityadvent -
We say thank you!
With a total of 120,000 visitors, this year's City Advent in the Überwasserkirche ended with the theme "You will find me". The annual city pastoral art installation offered a Christian impulse based on the words from the book of Jeremiah "You will seek me and you will find me if you seek me with all your heart" (Jer 29:13). Visitors were invited to immerse themselves in a place of meditation alongside the Christmas market and to look for traces of God in their lives. Popular with young and old were the glowing figures of the Three Wise Men - camel included - which you could stand inside and see the Star of Bethlehem through binoculars. They have now moved ahead of us to St. Stephanus in the Aaseestadt, where they will remind us of the search for Christ until mid-January.
We would like to thank the City Advent team for their preparation and support, all volunteers and those involved, and especially Rolf Jungenblut for their generous support, and wish everyone a blessed Christmas!

City Advent in the Überwasserkirche
This year, the City Advent will once again take place in the Überwasserkirche. After last year's outstanding success with the huge, glowing moon, the team around Rupert König, head of the church foyer, and Markus Kortewille, volunteer project coordinator, have once again come up with something very special: A huge golden wall made of rescue foil will attract attention behind the altar and invite you to enter an area of silence behind it. It symbolizes the fact that we cannot make an image of God. Based on the story of the three wise men who set out to search for the divine child, visitors are invited to enter the altar area via a ramp. The opening ceremony is on Tuesday, November 28th, 2022, at 7 p.m.

Überwasserkirche in Münster as part of the City Advent on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at 8 p.m.

The fingerstyle guitarist, who is now very well known via YouTube and Spotify, is coming to Münster for a performance at Cityadvent and will play compositions from his current Christmas album, among other things. Simon Wahl's concerts are a treat for the soul; he is described as a "master of melodies" and lets listeners immerse themselves in other worlds. The guitar virtuoso, who lives in Vienna, plays numerous concerts at home and abroad. Over 500 in 9 different countries between 2013 and 2018 alone.
He has also won several music awards, such as the "Acoustic Grand Slam" in Freiburg. The Viennese-based musician regularly plays at international guitar festivals with renowned guitarists such as Adam Rafferty, Thomas Leeb and Don Ross.
Have you ever heard bass slapping, percussion, fingerpicking and melody playing on a guitar at the same time? As a "one man band", Simon Wahl combines virtuoso rhythms with soulful melodies and develops his own style, a crossover of pop, rock, hip hop and flamenco. He coaxes new sounds and noises from his guitar that you wouldn't associate with a single guitar. All that remains is listening, enjoying and being amazed.
This concert will not only be a wonderful evening for connoisseurs of skillful guitar playing: in front of the fantastic backdrop, the golden wall that currently adorns the Überwasserkirche, Simon Wahl's melodies will also make many listeners dream and indulge in their imagination.
